Why am I struggling to fall asleep?

Our ancestors lived in a time where the sun was the main source of light dictating when it was time to stay awake or go to sleep. At nighttime our body naturally produces melatonin, which helps us fall asleep to restore the body for the next day. Our body still craves these natural cycles of wakefulness and tiredness, but in today’s world blue light from our phones, computers, TVs, and more can suppress melatonin secretion.

Ever notice headaches after staring at screens for too long? Ever notice it may be tough to fall asleep once you climb into bed and turn off the light because your mind feels wide awake? These are common symptoms of blue light exposure. Blue light glasses help reduce the impact that blue light has on the body by filtering the blue light before it reaches your eyes.

You can see from the below photo demonstration a blue light lens on the left stopping almost all blue light compared to the regular glasses lens on the right. Reputable sources like Harvard Health, and the Sleep Foundation have significant data suggesting the negative impacts of blue light on sleep.

Blue light glasses are a great tool for helping reduce headaches during the day, and help you fall asleep and achieve restful sleep at night. But which pair should I buy? I’ve tried many styles and below I’ve ranked my favorites.

#1 goodnight blue light glasses

While this Chicago based company touts the best bluelight glasses on the market for sleep, I’d go as far to say these are the best blue light glasses for all occasions. Goodnight bluelight glasses are stylish, comfortable, and the lens quality is so great it doesn’t even feel like you are looking at a screen through blue light blocking glasses. These glasses are perfect to start a nightly routine of falling into quality sleep easily. Simply wear them an hour before bed and goodnight. They even fit well over your regular glasses. The only downside with these is that because they sell so fast, frequently one or two of the colors will be in stock. They are running a 20% discount and free shipping on your first order using code NEWSLEEP.

#2 Horus X

This French company has great blue light glasses for gamers looking to reduce eyestrain while playing video games. The amber lenses do a great job at reducing blue light, and has free shipping in US or Canada. Downside of Horus X are they are bulky and uncomfortable to wear plus a high price tag.

#3 Felix Gray

Felix Gray gets the award for style. Their many models and colors are a great way to find blue light glasses that can match with any outfit. Felix Gray can also help with those who need a prescription! Biggest downside with these are they are on the pricey end (starting at ~$95)
